Hi Jenna,

I really haven't tried the Lavender oil. I would certainly be worth
a try. The main thing I have found to effect the color has been
additives like tea, coffee, clove etc. They certainly push Kimia to
brown and there she stays. Sufficient time for dye release is also
necessary. Kimia stains really fast and because of that, I think
sometimes paste is applied too soon. I like to let her sit at least
24 hours after the terps are added. I do short cut sometimes and add
my cajeput along with the sugar and lemon initially. I haven't seen
any difference in stain when I do this rather in a two step mixing
process. But I have let Kimia sit around with terp in it at room
temperature (covered and in a for 3 to 4 days longer and
bam...she has been at perfection and even the new Kimia went black
cherry instead of deep dark raspberry then. That takes a lot of
patience I know. But when I have the luxury of time, I let Kimia sit
and use her on the 3rd or 4th day.

If anyone else has used Lavender with Kimia, maybe they will post and
let you know their results. I have gotten so content with cajeput
now that I rarely experiment with any another terp.

But try the lavender and let me know if it will effect the initial
brown that the new batch of Kimia gives initially. When I first
removed the paste and saw the brown of the new batch I scream..."Oh
no! What happened?" But the red is there within 8 to 12 hours so I
started to breathe again. Like all henna powders, each crop of the
same henna powder offers up something a bit different than the last.
I loved all of the color changes the first batches of Kimia went
through. But, now I love just as much the fact that the new Kimia
takes you to the red and stays put...just gets deeper and darker.

Holidays are great. But not so great when that "no mail" thing holds
up your henna powder. Let me know when it arrives.

Take care.
