Re: Help with Terp Stain, Mrs. Jones, others?

Not knowing what henna powder you used and therefore not being
familiar with how your particular henna powder behaves, these are
some possibilities regarding what is going on.
If you have a slow stain developing henna paste (which is not a bad
thing), your stain may well still develop excellently over the next
day or so. Some henna powders, even with terps in them, can leave a
very faint stain at paste removal. Yet still, can develop into deep
and beautiful stains. I have tested a couple of henna powders that
henna powders that behaved that way.
It does not sound like your paste is beyond peak. So the other
possibility is that it might be a henna powder that takes longer to
reach its peak. You might find it at peak tomorrow or even the next
day. For some henna powders to reach peak on the 3rd or 4th day is
quite possible...even terped. Test spot with it tomorrow and see
what results you get. Also, place it in a warm spot, like on the TV
and check it out after a few hours and see if there is a film of dye
forming on it again. That is also an indication to you that it is
still working to release the dyes.
Your henna powder and paste may be one that likes to be left on the
skin longer than the time period you had it on. Do a test spot on
your finger with the paste as is. Lemon/sugar it...wrap in
tissue...wrap in plastic wrap and see what you have in the morning.
When you are becoming familiar with a henna powder it is always a
good thing to mix just a tiny bit and do periodic test spotting with
it so you can time it out and have some idea when it provides its
best stains. I recommend doing this with the henna powder both with
terps and without.
Since you seem to know that your henna powder is fresh, then sounds
like you have just a bit of tweaking and/or waiting to do for it to
provide you with the stains you are after.
Sounds like you used 100 grams of henna powder. I am clueless
regarding exactly what quantity of terps would be needed with that
much. I am sort of a "add it until I think it is enough" measurer
with henna paste and cooking as well. If you think that you possibly
need to add more terps, add some more. It is the consistency you
will need to watch out for. You don't want to add so much that your
consistency becomes unworkable. I am sure there is a saturation
Hope some of this works.
