At Sirius NYC Catherine sold some of us on the use of
watercolor pencils in laying out complicated designs, especially
celtic or arabic knotwork. I didn't pay much attention as I felt I
should be able to do this kind of work without such aids! Anne
seemed to accept it finally.

hah! Since then i have gotten no farther in my ability to do celtic
knotwork and at the festival this weekend I made Anne leave her
lunch behind to do a knotwork design for a client. I watched her
set it up using the watercolor pencil and then whip out the
design very quickly using the pencil lines as her guide. I
promised her up and down that I would do the next knotwork
request to make up for interrupting her lunch. Well, wouldn't ya
know it, someone saw her work on that client and requested the
SAME design plus another little knotwork design (the three-lobed
one, whose name I can never remember). I whipped out the
watercolor pencil, laid out my design and did it almost as fast
and almost as nicely as Anne did.

Whew! What a relief. I still feel a little guilty for using the pencil
but it made such a difference in the final product that I am

So thanks for the tip CCJ even if I didn't take it up right away; I
had to try it in the heat of battle to be convinced of its usefulness.
