Re: Riverside? San Diego?

: I have a small apartment so could only host one person. I am

: San Diego from Riverside if people want to see the area. But at the
: time of the conference, fewer distractions might better.
The people who've contacted that I think I can work with have some
very good site possiblities. A nice secure spot, where we can
interact and be cozy together is half of a perfect conference. The
"feel" of a pajama party or encampment is about ideal. Day trips are
great ... but people have so little vacation time, and are often so
pinched for funds, that they're less useful than one might think. The
Jackson Heights trip was fantastic ... but most other tourist spots
are apt to just be a hinderance.
I learned a lot in these last two conferences ..... who's apt to make
a good host and who's probably not. Because people have to get
precious vacation time off and purchase expensive tickets ..... the
organization and reliability (and optimism and flexabilty and ability
to cope with stress) or the site person are beyond crucial. ... so
I've got to work with only people who are totally reliable.
