: You tell the African American women that I have dealt with that
they
: were "dim" when they were told and believed that getting a "black
: henna" design was their best option because the natural henna did
not
: show up well on their skin. They made the best choice based upon
the
: information they were provided. Responsibility does not belong
: simply on the side of the person obtaining the henna design. It
also
: rests with the henna artists. If given the good and correct
: information people make good choices. It they do not then they
are
: responsible.

In this case I will always aim and uleash my wrath at the criminal
who pushes it on anyone - African American or not

I have read repeatedly on this forum-if they can't tell you what's
in it, don't put it on your body. Also, descriptions of what the
black stuff-what it looks like, smells like, etc. I have also
read "Henna does NOT come in black" I have seen pictures of ppd
burns and read the many resources that Catherine has gathered and
made available for us. So I am not worried that people visiting this
forum will not understand the danger.

: You underestimate Kenzi and Anne if you think anything I have said
: will prevent them from posting their experiences and opinions.
They
: will continue. Just as your interpretation of my intent and what
I
: should be doing with my time will not prevent my commentary to
: comments that I feel lack sensitivity...when I choose to do so.
That
: indeed is something often done here from time to time. But for
you
: to think for a moment that your lack of reaction to some of the
posts
: and willingness to go past the inferences is the same reaction
that
: everyone will have would be a mistake.
:
: Perhaps when you reach my age you too will have enough experiences
to
: not take seriously the notion that you "catch more flies with
honey"
: when you are dealing with people.

Goodness...I don't recall ever revealing my age, although I may
have. Perhaps someday you'll have enough experiences to not take
seriously the notion that you must reach a particular age bracket to
know how you want to deal with a particular person or group of
people or that because you've been around longer than I (If indeed
you have) you are automatically right and I am automatically wrong.

to You catch some and some you
: don't. That is the reality.

agreed

: Hmmmmmmmmmm...I keep making that same point.

Yes, you do. But,I'm done with this. I'm going back to enjoying the
forum. I really don't think we're in different camps...we agree that
women of color can use henna and get beautiful results and that they
should know that, we agree ppd henna is bad as are the people who
push it. We just disagree on how to deal with that. Call me an
idealist, but I just wish it didn't have to get personal. I've had
my say and I don't intend to take up more forum space rephrasing,
repeating or defending my feelings. They are what they are as are
yours.

blessings to all,
Maria
