Re: Dyeing with henna problems

I may be wrong, but it may have something to do with the fabric? I
tye-died a 100% cotton t-shirt a few weeks ago. I got a really cool
sage-green effect, but not the color I was going for. I've washed it
already, so I know it's not the powder...the actual stain is green.
I had saturated the shirt with paste that had red wine and some EOs
and kept it warm and moist overnight. I think I have a pic. If not,
I'll take one.
: I bought some white cotton shoes with th intention of putting
: designs on them and have had some weird results. I put part of
: design on Sunday while the sun shone. I used a good henna and
: juice in the paste. I don't remember if I put in sugar but there
: were no oils. Anyway, Monday I dabbed a damp cloth to re-wet the
: paste and put it in the sun again. Tuesday I applied the rest of
: design and let it dry, then steamed it to re-stimulate the dye
: process. I let it sit in my reasonably warm apartment but not in
: sun until last night, when I scraped the paste off. Underneath is
: pale greenish color, not unlike the color of the powder before
: mixing. In between the lines is a faint red-brown dye stain. I
: don't know if the green stuff is dyed or just the powder stuck to
: Can I fix this, and what can I do to get a decent henna color dye
: next time?
