Hi Erika,

Without the terps you won't get the stains you want on the hard to
stain body parts. That is one of the things that made
the "discovery" of the terps so important. The terps allowed one to
get stains and deep dark stains on places that would not stain at all
or well without them. You and I discussed the possibility of
lavender due to not being quite sure about the use of the other terps
on some one who is pregnant. But to get the stains you want, you
have to use "a" terp. I thought that was clear to you.

Tazii stains back of hands and feet (not difficult areas) without
terps. Without the terps you have to apply the sealants a number of
times, wrap in tissue and plastic wrap and keep on for about 8
hours. Tazii (unterped) likes to be sealed and wrapped and left
sealed and wrapped for some time...like over night. The same can be
said about most henna powders if you don't terp them. The terps
allow you sometimes to just put the design on and let folks go...or
put the design on...some sealant and then let folks go. But without
the terps in your paste, you need the sealants, tissue, plastic wrap
and time thing to get the dark stains. And time is a very very big
part of the equation. Since the Tazii didn't show up on the back of
her hands and tops of her feet, I would suggest that you may not have
had full dye release. The stain on her palms should have been at
least as deep in color as the Tazii pic on my website is the dyes has
released fully. That is not the color it starts at, but is the color
at full stain development. If you got less than that, look to the
process. Was the paste left on long enough...was it wrapped...what
was the temp it was kept at...was the stain kept from water for app
24 hours...did the dye fully release...any number of things are at
play here. Your powder is important but the process can make or
break the deal.

Give me some sense of what other results you are getting from your
powders. I know you didn't get a good stain with the Kimia. But it
sounds like that was because you showered immediately followng using
it. I would love to see pics of the stains you are obtaining from
your powders. It would give me some indication of weather or not you
are getting the best stains possible from the powders. I will also
send you some pics of the various powders and what they do with and
without terps. That might be helpful to you also to see how
powderful the terps are in terms of getting stains where no stains or
barely visible stains were possible prior to the terps.

I think it was wise to error on the side of caution by not using any
terps on your friend during her pregnancy since you were not sure of
this. But the lack of terps could pretty much assure the lack of
stain as well.

Maybe someone else has information about the wrapping and heating. I
can't imagine though being pregnant and dealing with all of that
wrapping for 8 to 10 hours.

I will be interested to know if anything appeared with the second
application. Was it with the same paste or a different batch?

Maureen
