praises from Indians!!! & Charcoal in the mix??
Posted by lezard on June 8, 2002 at 18:04:48:today is the 2nd day of a fair I'm participating. A holistic fair that
was a success the year before. This year it was a disaster for me. The
table is at an inconspicious place I guess. A miserable 30 bucks was
the whole day's intake. ( I charge about six for a henna).
But what was comforting is that out of 5 customers, 2 were Indian
girls who was enticed after they see the work I've done on the
salesgirls for my table (I am sharing with some cosmetic ladies.)
They go on and on about how fair henna artist give horrible works and
they never see a Chinese boy dong henna. I ask them to let me henna
them when they wed....they giggle and giggle. they promise to
recommend me. An Indian gentleman will bring his fiance to let me
henna her. A whole family of Indians chatted me up and were really
amazed, but they didn't do henna, too cold and dry they say, the
colour won't come out. (very True, I was clad in exactly the same gear
I wore in NYC, aircon there was freezing. The usual dark brown stains
I got from my henna was only reddish brown). But this is a rare
occasion when I wasn't very upset when business is slow..Not too bad.
although as CCJ said I may be digging for fishes when I should have
walk to the lake, but somehow I got crabs instead. Anyway just one
more day to go.
They told me that their recipes. One involve charcoal in the mix? what
was that for? they dunno either, just a recipe passed on from mother
to daughters. any feedback on that.
