Fresh henna powder will give you the best stains, but for getting a
specific color result like dark cherry it may take some
experimentation. I don't think any reputable henna dealer will claim
that their powder will give dark cherry stains every time. If they do
claim such, you may want to take your business elsewhere. Henna is
far more unpredictable than that.

I will get dark cherry stains from the brand name "Jamila" henna,
when mixed with cajeput oil. Dark cherry stains without an essential
oil are hard to come by, and often brought by luck as well as good
conditions such as heat, etc.
