I charge half my regular rate for travel time over 20 minutes. If
I'm traveling by train (and I guess I would do this for air, too)
then I'd charge the actual fare. To this you add hotel costs (add
the standard rate even if you stay cheaper) and food. One way to
calculate this ahead of time is to visit the IRS site and see what
the standard allowance for the area you'll be in is. I'd charge
standard rate while actually hennaing then maybe somthing small
for "down time" like $10/hr. Contact local salons and import houses
and see if you can get a side gig to fill the down time. Especially
for you guys, the "From New York City" label should be a draw for
advertisements.
If you guys will have me, I'd love to do more gigs. Of course, right
now I'm bringing my baby along but I've learned to henna with him in
a sling. Also, I started using rolled cones again and my skills
jumped a few years' worth in a few days! I finally feel like I'm
doing the art I always knew I could, and I have to thank Sirius NYC
for getting my butt in gear to do it. Pictures posted as soon as I
get the darn SPhosting thing figured out.
