Re: Personal advice?

What event? I'll be at Midsummer in Stonemanrche, East, this weekend
and I'm told there's another artist who'll be there. Maybe I can get
my right hand done!! Assuming she;s talented enough to work around
the splotches :)
: I am curious...do you put up a sheet about henna warnings
: (senitive skin, staining cloaths, etc)? Do you offer specific
: designs or just improvise as you go along? I would love to hear
: some personal stories!
SCAdians are pretty relaxed and for the most part curious and happy
to learn stuff. I wouldn't bother with a waiver but I do ask
everyone if they have ever been sensitive to anything on their skin
and tell everyone what's in my paste. Most SCAdians know about henna
by now, anyway.
Do have books available! Tell people they can pick a design or give
you a budget and some guidelines and you can work with that.
SCAdians are more likely IMHO to let you do art rather than copy
something, but if they want a copy, they usually pick something fun
and interesting (and not cheap in cost!) to use. Get CCJ's book,
Henna The Joyous Body Art and know what pages the period designs
are. You can mark them with a sticky note. When someone wanders by
with the matching persona, feel free to waylay them to show them
something cool to enhance their persona with. Also get Erfan's
Hennaria and MEMORIZE the foreward as it's full of useful tidbits to
throw into a conversation. This is a terrific opportunity to share
all those cool facts with people who will actually care about them.
If CCJ's website is still in the process of moving, you can get them
from mine at the same price.
Above all, have fun!
P.S. next time you need henna, drop me a line. I give "family"
discounts to fellow SCAdians.
