You say you've done these just today? It sounds to me like you did
everything right, but you just haven't given the henna time to
develop on your skin yet. Henna stains that start out deep orange
will develop to a much darker shade in several hours. Just give it a
little time - you should be pleasantly surprised come tomorrow with
lovely, darkening brown. :-)

Take care,
Jenna

: Hi everyone,
:
: I did my first henna designs today and the results weren't as good
as
: I had hoped. My designs came out bright orange instead of that
deep-
: red/brown that I was hoping for.
:
: I bought Jamilla Henna from Castle Arts. It was olive green in
: color, so I am assuming it was fresh. I mixed about 1 tablespoon
of
: henna with some juice from a fresh lemon (filtered through a coffee
: filter)to make a thick paste. I let that sit in a covered plastic
: container overnight on my kitchen counter.
:
: The next day, I add some hot tea to the paste to make it thinner
and
: then applied the paste to my skin. I let the paste dry and kept it
: on for about 3 hours. I applied it to my ankle, hand, and putside
: wrist and the results were bright orange.
:
: I would like to know what I can do for the next time to make my
: stains come out darker in color. Did I miss an ingredient or step?
:
:
: Thanks for the help!
: Sharon
