I use any vegetable based oil, anything you can eat or find in the
kitchen.Olive oil and pure cocoa butter are lovely as well as
massage oils.Rub on before exposure to water especialy if the water
in your area is chlorinated. Dont use mineral based oils however
such as baby oil or Vaseline as they can actually tend to fade the
henna more. Also avoid most store bought lotions.
I found its only really needed for the first few days as the henna
is darkening.
Goog luck to you.

: Hi all,
:
: Getting ready to start work at the tat parlor on Tuesday, I was
: reading over my henna predecessor's aftercare sheet. She
recommended
: protecting designs with a light slick of vegetable oil prior to
: bathing.
:
: I haven't heard of this before. Sounds reminiscent of
those "henna
: oils" one sees. Then again, could very likely be a whole part of
: henna aftercare that I've missed out on. Does anyone know if this
is
: a worthwhile thing to do? If so, how long should you keep it up?
Is
: there something better to use?
:
: Many thanks!
:
: Be well,
: Jenna
