Anne gave you good advice...basically what Kree told me when I
asked her about this. She does marvelous work and I was
inspired by her to give it a try. My attempts are at the link below...I
hennaed little tambourines that were about 4-6 inches across.

I really liked my first attempts at hennaing drums. You can lay
down the basic lines of the design with pencil which brings
greater precision. Also, you can turn the drum anyway you want
to get the angle you need to henna well. Also, you can start the
design and then put the drum away, eat dinner, go out, whatever,
and come back to finish working on it. This allows you to really
put your best work into it; you are not forced to finish because the
client wants to leave.

You might be able to buy a cheap drum to practice on; I hope you
enjoy it as much as I did.
