Please please PLEASE send the organizers some info about this!!
I am too, and if they get it from more than one source, maybe they will
sit up and take notice.
I was doing henna (only the good stuff!) at that event last weekend (I
wonder if I saw your folks?), and believe me, my partner and I were
freaked out about that lady putting black poison on all those kids!!
My partner Lara talked to her and she wouldn't say what was in her
product (she said she was under a gag order because she was selling her
business and couln't disclose any info for "legal reasons"- bizarre!),
but she was telling her customers it was perfectly safe "vegetable dye"
and henna, and "oils". You show me a vegetable that dyes anything black
and I'll bet it was grown in a nuclear waste dump! What a load of you-
I had my "NO BLACK HENNA" warning signs prominently displayed on the
front of my booth as usual, and lots of people talked to us about it,
so hopefully we educated some consumers about taking responsability for
making healthy henna choices. :)
Also, if anyone does get a bad reaction and contacts the event
administration about it, they should know enough to tell those poor
souls to get to a dermatologist right away.
By the way, the airbrush tattoo people that were at this event claim
that they were the first people to do the black junk in Venice Beach 15
or so years ago, and they stopped when they saw what it was doing to
people. (the man said he ALWAYS got a bad reaction to the chemicals!)
By that time though, other folks were doing it, and here we are
today... They feel kind of bad about the whole thing, and they were
upset to be right next to someone who was doing it.
Anyway, send out some warning info, and I'll do the same! Thanks for
