I love to hunt the local ethnic grocery stores for henna powder.

I do enjoy the shopping experience and perusing the exotic spices and
stuff. There are many Asian and East Asian communities around
Southern California but I suppose if you are living in the middle of
nowhere your best bet would be to purchase henna powder online.
Considering how cheaply I can buy it I would rather check out the
ethnic grocery store. And if I do end up with mediocre henna I can
use it for hair. I have found that the percentage lost through
sifting is similar to some of the online sources (from 10 to 30%).
And yeah the henna bought at the store is more likely to be dyed
green but if it stains well then I donít really mind.

Perhaps next summer I think will check out the Southern California
stores and the henna brands they carry. Iíll buy a selection and
rate which ones at which stores are the best for that year. Sort of
like a wine taster. HE HE!!
