all of us to consider, well, at least for me! there were many
points which i will have to look over again when I am in slump.
At certain points in the year I go through down times where I am
fed up with my art, fed up with henna, bored of my designs,
devoid of any creative energy etc. I think this often comes from
doing henna for money, especially when there are more paying,
corporate gigs and fewer fun, creative events. I try to remind
myself that I am doing the paying gigs to allow me time to do the
more fun, creative stuff. Still the slumps come along. I think your
advice to change recipes, tools, designs etc. is a great idea. I
also find that doing some other form of art helps too...drawing,
pottery, photography. It gets the focus off henna and changes my
perspective on art and the subject of my art.
I don't quite know what Nick will do because he experiments with
new designs, tools, methods, recipes etc. more than anyone I
know. I am exhausted just hearing about it all. I think the most
important aspect of your post, for Nick, is the reminder to look
within and ask some hard questions, but also to understand the
artistic process for what it is.
