It's the chlorine in the swimming pools and some tap water and the
salt in the ocean. The swimming pool always takes the henna off me.
So does the tap water ( there is a lot of chlorine in tap water here.)
Once I went swimming the the gulf, the freshly darkened henna design
was gone in less than an hour. So it's not so much the water as
what's in the water. It's always good to avoid water contact with
your henna for several hours after you take the paste off if possible.
Your very lucky your tap water is ok.

: So, I've read and practiced 'avoid getting your henna wet'. Is it
: about water or is it about the chlorine content of most tap water?
I
: know a swimming pool killed my last design, but showers do not a
: thing. The ocean is also pretty gentle. Does water do something on
a
: chemical level? All I can think of is 'puffing' the cells so they
: exfoliate easier. hmmmmm.....-maxx (who is not working this
weekend,
: hmmmph and hurrah)
