henna and really long really thick hair?

hi all. i've been thinking about hennaing my hair. i've never done
anything with it other than wash and condition as usual, and i'm too
chicken to use other commercial dyes and things, but from what i've
read/learned, henna seems to be something i want to try.

my question is kind of an odd one, but i have really long (it comes
down to mid-bum) and really thick hair, and i have no idea how much
henna i'd need to cover it all. not to mention the price of all the
henna it'll take... i don't think i want to send myself to the poor
house just to get pretty hair...

so i guess i kinda have two questions... first one is how much do you
think i'd need to henna really long really thick hair and second is
does it even make sense for me to try it, or are some things just
better left for the shoulder length people of the world - lol.

thanks for any help and thanks for putting up with the ramblings of a
newbie :)

take care all
