Another Bollywood henna reference (a bit off topic)

For you Bollywood fans out there...

One of the latest romances from Yash Chopra is playing in U.S.
theaters. It's "mere yaar ki shaadi hai"... "my friend is getting
married", which is basically a hindi remake of "My Best Friend's
Wedding."

Late in the movie, there's a scene where the main female lead and
bride-to-be Anjali (played by Sanjana) is being hennaed. An
announcement is made that some bridal dress or shawl has arrived at
the house, and all the ladies rush out of the room without a thought
for poor Anjali, who has wet henna all over her hands. This is all a
setup so that the character played by Bipasha Basu, Ria, can come in
and tell Anjali how much her friend Sanjay (the "hero") really loves
her and wants to marry her. Unlike in many movies, henna is actually
shown instead of just hinted at. Ria even picks up the cone that was
dropped by the ladies who left the room, and for a moment I thought
we were actually going to see some henna be applied! But movies are
movies, and Ria just holds the cone above Anjali's hand while she
talks to her. No henna was hurt in the making of this film. ;)

-P

p.s. For those interested, I'd give this movie a rating of 7 out of
10. It's better than many Bollywood offerings, but it's typical Yash
Raj fare... i.e. formulaic. No surprises here.
