When I first learned about henna I bought one of those kits too but I
had to mix the powder myself. It didn't stain at all. It too said to
let sit for four hours and to leave on an hour or so. It didn't stain
at all. The only pre mix I found that stained was a Rani Cone. Those
too can be hit or miss.

: I purchased a tube of premixed henna along with a small book (on
: history, application instructions, techniques, and designs). Its
: just called "Henna Body Art Instant Henna Paste". It came in a
tube
: and I refrigerated it immediately as the instructions said because
I
: didnt plan on using it right right away. The henna paste was just
: plain henna, and was textured like a fine toothpaste. I put it on
: with the tip that came with the tube on clean dry skin. I also
told
: my boyfriend the night before not to use soap or any lotions on his
: back. Not like he would but just incase. I let it sit for 3-4hrs
: (the instructions on the tube said I only need 90mins for it to
: stain). I periodically put a pure lemon juice and (white) sugar
: solution on the paste to keep it moist. It said in my book that
this
: would help it stain better. I didnt cover/wrap it because I didnt
: really know how and I didnt want to wreck the design. I removed
the
: dry henna paste with a dull butter knife.
