Henna is an acid and chemical dyes are bases. Remember the
elementary science class where you made the volcano from baking soda
and vinegar? You don't want that happening to your hair. However
awful the henna color is, it's better than the sewage-green to black
you'd get, unless it just falls out.
Some other options are to redye with a darker henna mixed with coffee
to darken it further. The more you henna hair, the darker (less
neon) it gets. You could also try an acid dye like Manic Panic.
It's temprorary and I don't know if it comes in normal hair colors,
but it would cover the henna color.
In a few months, try some chemical color on the hair from your
hairbrush to see if the acid level has gone down enough to make it
