Ugh...finally home and what an exhausting 10 days it's been.
Went on 'vacation' with the family, and had book a henna day while I
would be there. Turned into 5 henna days...lol. Had a lot of fun,
gave 2 workshops, gave away alot of freebies too. Booked a return
engagement....profitable trip.
Got home on Thursday, unpacked and then repacked for a weekend
event. I got to set up kitty corner from the other henna
booth....interesting...lol. Only 2 of us and placed that close
together.

I had one woman {w/ 2 men} come to my booth Saturday evening and
seemed very unhappy. She had a stain around her belly button that
was faint and she asked me if I could fix it. So we got to talking
while I worked, and her bad mood left as we chatted about henna. She
was thrilled w/ the clean lines of the design...etc. Interesting to
watch her mood perk up. I charged her minimal since it was just a
touch up type job, which was more than she originally paid...lol.
She kept asking...don't you want more? My reply...'no darlin, I can
color between the lines'...lol.
When I dabbed some l/s on the drying paste, I told her what it was
while I was doing it. All 3 of them exclaimed "what's that
for"...after I explained...all 3 of them again together said "NOT
olive oil??"
Olive oil??? It left me perplexed.
Anyone use olive oil as either a paste fixative or as an aftercare
treatment....other than before bathing/showering??

Anyway, I advised her to leave the paste on at least 4 hours...told
her to just dance it off later in the night. She came back a few
more times for l/s.
The next day she stopped by and her stain was already a nice brown.
She was tickled pink and thanked me several more times...lol. And
she did dance the paste off!!! Each time she wandered by my booth
she had a big smile and nod for me....it was quite lovely to see
someone turn a 'so-so' experience into a happy one.

One of my friends was also there and we have been trying for a year
to find time to henna her. She got to my booth about midnight
{outdoor camping} and asked if she could have fingertip dips and
something simple on the palms....."ooo, dancers hands" I
exclaimed....YES YES!!! No one EVER asks for that, the only time I
get to do it is on myself!
So we got the dips done {fingernails too!} and simple palm design,
wandered to a brazier around 1am to get those darn tips dry. Came
back to my booth and wrapped her fingers in toilet paper then the
palms. I told her that being as cold as it was, and her being cold
also the color might not get very dark.
Saturday morning she stopped by...blood red stains
Saturday afternoon...red had darkened into a brown shade
Saturday evening...burgundy
Sunday morning I was telling another friend about the awesome color
from the midnight henna session, and jokingly said...I bet it goes
nearly black. About an hour later my henna'd hands showed up and
they are nearly black. It's that beautiful black cherry/burgundy
that is just a shade or two lighter than black. We were all
astonished! I took a lot of pix of the hands I should be able to
post links later in the week.

Well that was my fun....
but back to the olive oil??? anyone???
Blessings,
Justine Willowhawk
