Some of my favorites are: ANYTHING by Talip Ozkan; ANYTHING by Omar
Tekbilek & Bryan Keane and a gorgeous CD called "Moonrise over Silk
Road" with an Iranian (Kalhan Kalor)and Indian musician (I forget his
name). These are all way out of body devotional/meditative CDS
ANYTHING by Amina Annabi or Rachid Taha (more towards modern, RAI
style); Aisha Kandisha's Jarring Effects, "Shabeesation"
Soundtrack to Latcho Drom
Anything REBETIKA -- I also have a collection of Greek & Turkish
music from the Cafe Aman era (early 1900's)
and many more too numerous to mention. I've thought about just
making a list of all my CDS some day in my spare time (hehehe)
Lots of times when we do house visits we are seeing people who have
NEVER HEARD Arabic or Indian music - so you are a cultural ambassador
when you provide henna, music & ambiance!
