I do half-dipped fingers in nearly all my designs. It's not very
hard, just cover the fingertip well onto the side of the finger so
that it will look good from the front angle. I usually decide how far
up the finger to fill depending on the effect i want. If it's just a
typical Moroccan design, i may fill as little as the top 1cm of each
finger, with a point. For Navneet, you should fill to the first
line/joint of the finger. If i want something really striking, i may
fill to the second joint, and add a nice border. That can be really
classic looking. The rule for filling in the thumb is to never go
past the first joint- otherwise it will look odd.

: This is a weird one. The only person I've seen do a half-dip is
: Nick. I've tried it since I saw it look so good on him and have
not
: been pleased with my results. I can nevr seem to get an even line
on
: the edge. I sort of go around until I can't see the finger skin
: anymore, which given the thickness of the paste is a bit less than
: halfway around the finger. It should not show from the other side
: when the paste is off.
