joy! Can't get better than that!
: This last bit is more for Kenzi. Is the lemon/clove infusion
: intended as the paste mixer for dye release, an additional henna
: perk up during mixing, or is it intended as a before/aftercare
: solution? Going by a guess I plan on using it as a paste thinner to
: mix in when I add the cajeput oil. I know I'm going to have to be
: careful when applying because it's terped paste.
The lemon-clove infusion is for mixing with the powder to create the
paste. You can also use it to make your lemon sugar fixative for
after the henna is applied. I have tried using the lemon-sugar in a
spray bottle and it works fine but often too much comes out at a time
and runs, which can take some of the henna with it, so be careful. I
find it works fine to dab it on with a cotton ball.
Just in case the instructions I sent you are a little long-winded,
here is a quick summary of what I do to mix terped paste:
1. mix lemon-clove juice with henna powder and a little sugar
2. cover with saran wrap, pressing the saran down so it touches the
surface of the paste and then pop that bowl into a larger air-tight
3. let this sit for 24 hours at room temperature
4. add your terps, about 10-20 drops per tablespoon of paste, mix well
5. cover again the same way, and let sit at room temperature for 24
6. strain your paste through a stocking and fill bottle with the paste
The timing above is what works for me but you should experiment with
what works best for you. Essentially what you are doing is getting
the dye to release using the acid in the lemon juice, then you are
pushing that to a higher level with the terp essential oil. So your
timing may be different but you should at the very least get the dye
to release before you add the terps.
I hope that clears it up. Feel free to email at the address above if
you have questions or post to the forum where you will get great
