Ditto: careful with acidic crystals... you can overstep your bounds!

very important not to push the acid too far, or the henna will
release no dye. I always mix with water and taste it to make sure
it's right before i mix. The ascorbic acid is likely not necesary at
all in your recipe.
: Ditch the honey. Natasha had a batch of henna wherein the proteins
: the honey totally prevented dye release.
: Dried limes are very sour, and adding the ascorbic acid to that may
: have made your mix too sour. Ph 5.5 is ideal.
