Rangoli are an art form tangent to henna. Most rural henna patterns
in India prior to 1950 are adapted from women's rangoli.

I taught rangoli classes at Brushwood ... and this is the first of 4
stories about them. Each subsequent rangoli got more intense! This
rangoli is about 35 feet across, with tea lights, just before we lit
the fire and danced it into the dust. Zimra worked on this one with
me ...
