I'll get the next stories up in the next several days. I know that
people talked about the effect of the rangoli during the days after,
and attributed "magical" and "tranformative" characteristics to the
rangoli, as people's interaction with the dance ground was, in their
perception, considerably changed. To be honest, I don't participate
all that much in the nighttime dancing, as my grumpy hip and my
50-something bod won't allow such. And, I decided to not join much in
the discussions about the effect of the rangoli, as I wanted to stear
clear of the "more magical than thou" contests, I just wanted to do a
good job of presenting a lecture and worksho. What people
internalized from the material I presented and from doing the work ...
was their own experience and didn't have a lot to do with me. I try
to take the Krishna to Arjuna notion of duty from the Bahagavad Gita
... you do what you must do, but without craving the results of your
doing.. I'll go work on the next part. This got INTENSE by the last
If you love henna, you'll LOVE rangoli! The two are tangent in Indian
folklife and beliefs ..... (and, imagine being able to do your henna
patterns 40 feet across!)
