so-called "colored" henna for hair - what the @#(^$ is it?
Well, none of the companies (Rainbow, Light Mountain) were into
disclosing their info, but it seemed it was not PPD. Nor was it real
henna, obviously, and the best I could figure is that companies like
this actually *graft* other plants into a henna base, indigo being
one of them. That way they can sell it as you see it in the natural
food stores, "100% Natural Henna." Packaging swindle, I call it.
Personally as many here know I think this is a shame and a dangerous
misrepresentation; henna does NOT "come in different colors" and, in
my opinion, the promotion of products which claim to do so leads
directly to the use of PPD. However, these manufacturers as well as
many natural food/herb store employees I've talked to are less than
concerned. The stuff doesn't work on skin (I know, this was how I
started trying henna) and it seems to have been in use since
the 'sixties, with no ill effects. I guess their attitude
Still, labeling would be nice, and if they had to see the chemical
burns and fake-tattoo )@*&@#%^& we have to put up with they might
decide to stick with different varieties of real, super-fresh, skin-
