Aome time back people asked about writing good Arabic calligraphy into
henna.

Love poems, prayers, curses, blessings, words, names ... were all
written into henna in Arabic and Farsi by the people who had the power
and magic of literacy from at least the 10th century up to now
(literacy was rare and wonderful though most centuries, particularly
for women!)

"Arabic Calligraphy, Naskh script for Beginners" by Mustafa Ja'far
publihsed by the Britisn Museum, ISBN 0-7141-1499-5 is an outstanding
guide to writing readable Arabic script with grace and elegance.
