When I did my student teaching, my cooperative teacher had THE STARE
that would make the kids cry. I don't have that kind of stare. I
have the "I'm waiting for you so we can continue with this please"
stare and the "I asked you not to interrupt me please" stare. Would
*never* use THE STARE - bad STARE.
Combined with using the rest of the group as peer pressure, it works
Getting the kids to help - excellent idea and one I forgot to mention.
When I did my henna demos for the 6th graders in the school I work
in, each class had three or four students whose parents would not let
them use the henna (for whatever reason) and of those, one or two who
could not or did not want to use the brown body paint I bring for just
such occassions. These students were generally delighted to lemon
juice/sugar and wrap their peers - made them feel both important and a
part of the class.
