: WOW!!! I took some of my frozen henna with me to Pennsic War

: wonderful in the warm muggy Pennsylvania air. I saw some of
: the work from the merchants and theirs did not seem as dark as
: mine was. not sure why.

: Pennsic was awesome!

Pennsic WAS a blast!

I saw some pitiful henna floating around Pennsic too ... some people
were asking money for work that shouldn't even have been given away.
Sad for henna.

Part of the Pennsic henna wipeout problem is the waterless
antibacterial handwash in the portapots and at the food court and
Baby Wipes people rely on! I was working at Touch the Earth, and I
asked people to please stay away from the hand cleaner and baby wipes
... and when they did, the results were wonderful. However, it was so
wretchedly hot, and there was so little water available for washing
.... people had little choice but to baby wipe several times a day
just to stand to be in their own skins, and to use the portapot jel
(just being near those little plastic castles makes you want to
autoclave every inch of your body!) ... and I can't blame them. Many
hennaes got zapped.

One woman who was very careful to keep the antibacterial wipe off her
skin was bittersweet-chocolate darked skinned woman, and I did the
back of her hand and forearm. The stains came up gorgeous dark
burgundy on her blue-dark skin. She'd gone to the henna booths and
asked for henna and none of them seemed to know what would happen with
henna on her skin. I did her free, hoped she'd go back and show them.
It looked great. I'll drop off the film for processing tomorrow.

I did have one very peculiar stain ... possibly an indication of the
Baby Wipe problem. I hennaed Amber's arm wrist to shoulder. I
hennaed her belly. I hennaed her back. Same henna, same day, same
everything. The belly and back came out beautiful, respectable
chocolate, very even. The arm came out SPECKLED! I went over it
twice, and it came out MORE SPECKLED! She's got freckles, but I don't
think that was the problem because her back is also freckled. Little
spots went dark chocolate, little spots went pumpkin, little spots did
nothing at all.

I can't figure that one out. Perhaps it's because she regularly
baby-wiped her arm ..... and not her belly or back.
