Hi Alissa,

You know, there is bigotry and there is stupidity. And sometimes they
can be one and the same. That statement is just so stupid that this
guy may well have just been trying to find a way to tell you how
pretty he thought your were. Men can be such assholes. I have
always thought that when someone goes that far out on a limb such as
that...that it is not only fair but your sworn duty and obligation to
cut the limb off...LOL!!! So that is the sort of nut I'd have to ask
if he is really that stupid or if that statement was just part of his
act.

The groping thing you might try to handle with positioning. Like
always have your legs on the opposite side of the table from the guys
free hand. So, like if you are doing a person's right hand and they
are facing you, then have you lap and legs to their right. Always on
the opposite side of their free hand...while you are holding their
other hand. The other thing is to not get cornered. Don't get a
seat with your back against the wall...or in anyway positioned that
the people coming up to you can control how you manuever freely in or
out of the space. Men recognize that very quickly and will take
advantage of that. And if a guy gropes you, throw him back his hand
and stand up and say, "NEXT!!!"

If I find myself in a situation that each week I show up the same
things are asked and said, and I find them particularly stupid,
silly, boring, tiresome...you get the point, I have made me up some
signs and depending on the setting, I named them "Answer to A**hole
Question #1" through whatever...or Answer to Silly Question #1
through whatever. And when someone comes up with the question, I put
up the sign. I don't even respond. Folks soon catch on to the fact
that they are saying nothing original. That you have heard it all
before. In fact, you have heard it all so many times that you have
prepared a written answer so as not to have to be bothered with the
same question again. The response to the little signs have always
come off as funny to me. Because the person always seems surprised
that they are not the first person in the world with that question or
approach.

I guess my advice would mostly be that when you are around people
with a whole lot of liquor in them, you need to prepare yourself to
manage them. They are not for the most part going to be on good
behavior. They are out to have some fun...such as it is. So you
really will need to be managing them, your boundary and putting henna
on them at the same time. I don't know how much someone groping your
leg gives a damn about the design you are putting on his arm anyway.
You should just henna something really obscene on his arm with some
really fast staining henna...LOL!!! There is no sense in being
serious in a room full of drunks or room full of people drinking
their way to foolish behavior.

Sounds like you just need to SCREAM those folks out of your system.
There is such a YUCK factor to what you described. Maybe that is
what you should henna on the major A**holes...the "Mr Yuck"
sign...LOL!!!

Feel better.

Maureen
