I'm thinking that either you have dye-release time issues or dead
henna powder. Some hennas release their dye very quickly so you
don't need to wait to terp it. You may have let it sit too long
before and after terping. Next time, just add plain ol' lemon juice
(since it might be the henna after all, you don't want to waste any
more time or effort until you know) and watch it every couple hours
or so. When the top browns like an apple left out, you have dye
release and can add the terps then.
If you don't get dye release in 24 hours, it's dead. If you do get
some color change, spoo some on a body part that doesn't show, like
your tum, and wait a couple minutes. Wipe away, and if there's any
stain, it's good. If no stain, you may be able to revive it with
terps but I wouldn't buy the brand again.
To keep it damp on the skin longer, add some sugar or honey.
Next time, order from an artist and get something good. Look at
pictures on the websites to see the color range you can get and go
from there.
