I've had the odd person try to tell me about how to henna & I've used
the "info blast" method & it really works. If they think they're
teaching me something (which I already know) I just go into minute
details of my trials & experiments... things I've read, talk with
others about, anything I can think of to basically bombard them with
as much of what I know.. that usually shuts them up, and it only
looks like I've been doing my homework. I'm never rude (although
it's so tempting to be sometimes)... it's kind of a nice way of
showing someone up when they think you don't know what you're doing.

peace, jenn

: I get the same sometimes with my artwork as well. More often than
: not I've found that at least with the people on the art side,
they're
: not really trying to be rude (though darn it it takes alot of
control
: not to bite their heads off) they're trying to start a conversation
: with someone who is obviously further along than they are and are
: flailing miserably.... then there are those who are particularly
: anonoying who are intentionally trying to make you feel inferior by
: such tactics...
:
: The most simple way I've found to sieve the nice folks having
trouble
: approaching and the a$$holes is to turn it around on them. You've
: got more than enough information on your hands about the subject,
: switch the roles on them. They're telling you about the benifits
of
: lemon, start discussing the debate going on about the perfect ph
: balance of a henna mix and your favorite methods to reach it. If
: they were trying to show you up, they'll be left floundering for
: something to top you going suddenly very knowledgeable on them, if
: they were honestly trying to strike up a conversation and were just
: being hopeless about it, they'll generally be very interested in
what
: you have to say.....
:
: Just a vague thought.... also on the lemon example if you want to
be
: relatively rude you can always just bring up "Yeah I know, can you
: believe there are some mehndi artists out there that don't know
even
: that much about henna?"
:
: Either way, you generally protect your rep as being a 'nice
person'
: while delivering a slap in the face..... think Southern Belle....
:
: "How Nice" ;) (and if you haven't heard the joke, you should ;)
