A few months ago I did a test to see how much terp oil was needed and
how much was too much. I used cajeput oil and did the Serious
Official Test Leaf Pattern on my shin. The pattern is to draw a leaf
of eah henna up one side and down the other of a body part so what
you get isn't affected overly by where it's placed. Per 50 grams of
paste, I added 6ml, 5ml, 4ml, 3ml, 2ml, 1ml, 1/2ml, and 1/4ml. I
don't know how much this works out to in drops- I would assume the
size of your droppper makes a difference. I left the paste on for an
hour then scraped off. During the week I showered in chlorinated
water but did not scrub the area.
At paste removal, there was very little difference in color between
all the leaves. At 4 days, the 6,5,4, and 3 were the same solid
dark, the 2 and 1 were the same slightly lighter solid, and the 1/2
and 1/4 were lighter than that. At 8 days, 1/4 was almost gone and
1/2, 1, and 2 were each a bit darker than the previous paste. From 3
to 6 were about the same in darkness and wear. All had begun to
crack but I didn't notice a difference between the 3 and 6 in how
they wore.
My conclusion is that while it makes a lot of difference to put less
than 3ml per 50 grams of paste, it makes no discernible difference to
add even up to twice that amount.
