Questions about henna and grey hair.

Essentially, my two main questions are: Can henna be applied
effectively to resistant grey hair? and Can henna achieve a dark
brown color? Although these seem to me like rather basic questions,
almost all of the information I've found has been contradictory on
these points. Certain companies, such as Rainbow Research sell "dark
brown" henna, while others maintain that any henna can provide only
variations of red.

As you may have guessed, my natural hair color is a very dark brown -
almost black - that is now infused with a significant amount of grey.
My sole interest in henna is to cover the grey, but those hairs are
proving extremely resistant to henna, and a light blonde seems to be
the darkest shade I can achieve regardless of the application time.
By the way, although some sites mention adding indigo or walnut
powder to the henna, I haven't been able to find either of those.

I appreciate the time you've taken to read this, and welcome any
advice or suggestions you may have. Again, many thanks.
