Improving the smell of henna paste..........

Hey again. I was looking at the henna on my hand (the paste is now
removed) and it's a nice pumpkiny-color, which I hope will be a rich
brown (or darker) within in a day or so. Anyway, while I was looking
at it I couldn't help noticed that the smell of the paste is still
there, and it got me thinking.........

This morning when I was finishing up making my paste I simmered lemon
juice and cloves together for about forty-minutes total, (following a
slightly Morrocan recipe I saw somewhere), then strained it, and the
liquid retained the lovely clovey smell, but when I added it to my
paste you could no longer smell the cloves, just the henna. And
although the smell is not unbearable, it's not my favorite, that's
for sure.

Anyhoo, what I was wondering is what are some of your favorite ways
to improve the smell of the actual paste? This would be helpful to me
in the future.

Thanks again, and I apologize if I'm asking too many questions,

Jamie
