SURMA(for you CCJ)
Posted by Rebecca on September 3, 2002 at 21:19:08:Hi, I use Surma and have never had a problem with it. I order it from
Kuwait and have it shipped to the USA. I do know that there are
various medicinal brands of Surma for different age groups and
different eye conditions, and it is probably the medicinal version
you used that affected you so badly. I also came across an FDA
warning about products containing kohl and surma.
I must reiterate though, I have never had a problem with Surma.
Interesting! My surma is totally different. Lateef Surma brand ...
: from Pakistan.
: It's a black powder, but in a strongly medicinal mix. It has no
: ingredient list .. and I had an awful reaction to it! When I tried
: it, it stung my eye so bad I had to run the faucet over my eye for
: minutes before the pain and stinging stopped! I still had some
: spots a month later where the surma had touched.
: The claims on the package are interesting ... says that it improves
: vision and that **note, this time all the spelling and typing
: are THEIRS, that I have meticulously copied from their insert**
: "contineous use will remove your specticals." It also says "Lateef
: Spectical Remover & millions of patients got benefited the
: prescription in an extensive of 70, years experience and research"
: "for fading eyes"
: I love the look of surma and kohl, but haven't had much luck
: one I want anywhere near my face. It'd be great to find something
: safe and reliable!
: I have a signed photo of an old friend Wavy Gravy .. who helped a
: foundation to prevent blindness in third world countries. I think
: I'll go give it a hug.
