What to do about unsupportive family

I would like opinions, or stories of experiences from other Henna
artist, etc. I have always been artistic, my degree is in Graphic
design, and my parents being medical proffesionals have struggled to
understand it sometimes, but have been mostly supportive. Seeing them
this past weekend was a little discouraging for me. It was the
firstimte I had seen then when my hands were "beautifully hennaed"
(as CCj suggests in her businees rant, to attract possible victim,
and/or clients) My mother did not comment on it at all, but my father
told me I had dirt on me (haha), and then told me it looks trashy. My
exact response was "well, it semms as if I don't care" I know this
seems a little harsh, but he took it as I meant it, and we wen on
about the day as usual, except for one more instance when he tried to
rub the henna off my wrist.

I am just wondering if anyone has any advise or related stories? I am
sure I will never change my father's opinion of art, so I will not
waste my creative energy on a task that is fruitless. I am just
curious about how other's families have reacted to henna.
