: Can henna be applied over regular hair dye and vice versa? Thanks!

Henna is an acidic dye and synthetic hair coal tar dyes are alkaline.
Think vinegar and baking soda. Depending on how recently one has been
applied, the reaction can go from intense (incinerating your hair)
from turning Frog Butt green or La Brea Tarpit Black, to ..... having
no reation at all.

Don't take a chance. Harvest hair from your hairbrush and test on
that. See if you've waited long enough (think in terms of months!)
