Hello Friends,
Last night I had one of the most challenging gigs ever! It truly was
Ozzfest meets Jr. League! Did a country club party with a henna
friend, Jill, who had never done a "real" gig before. I hope she
still wants to do henna after the night we had! So... it starts with
us waiting almost 2 hours for the gals to get off the golf course.
During this time we are hennaing the staff, talking, killing time.
The first foursome arrives and approaches the table. "Oh God, some
kind of tattoo thing, I definitely don't want that" they scoff. So of
course we sit and feel kinda stupid waiting for the first "pretty
gurl" to get things started. I won't tell the WHOLE story, but as the
evening progresses these women, (80 of them!) get progressively more
and more s**tfaced drunk. Our time is up and so it goes... can you
stay for another hour? That hour is up... can you stay for another
hour? I ended up there for about 6 and a half hours (2 hour gig) Jill
just slightly less! By the end of the night they were all doing
the "mans name in a heart on my boob" thing. I get this all the time
with the over 50 set. (Anyone else?) So... they are all SOOO drunk
and messing them up and decide that the best course of action is to
expose the aforementioned boob completely! Did I mention that at this
point we had been moved inside so they could all do karioke (sp?) If
anyone out there does a party that includes karioke, you need to
charge hazard pay rates!! I usually leave a gig really energized, but
I left this one completely drained. The more alcohol that flowed, the
more demanding they got, and that made it tough! Jill, if you are
reading this, you ROCK and I would have never been able to do this
without you!! There is SOOO much more, but need I go on? What an
experience!!!! Just wanted to share with all who have been there!!
