Dorm Henna Boogie
Posted by Allison on September 15, 2002 at 22:08:18:Well I ran into my resident advisor today and she has taken up
calling me her "little henna tattoo artist." If she took the tattoo
part out she'd have it just about right. I had mentioned to her that
I do henna on occasion and since the RA's are supposed to give these
different programs I offered to help do one on henna body art. It
seems she took me seriously and wants to get together and actually do
a whole program on different body art including regular tattoos, body
art safety issues and things like that. And to make things fun she
was hoping I'd teach people how to do henna or henna people at the
program. Woo Hoo! She says since it would be run by an RA it would be
funded by Residence life. Meaning my school would be buying me henna
powder, and supplies. Double Woo Hoo! Now heres where things make me
nervous. I'm going to be dealing with college age girls and possibly
guys. Has anyone had any experience with dealing with this age group?
Yes, I know I'm the same age as most of them but I'm well...
different and it shows. I'm also worried because there are a number
of prominent Christian groups who happen to have members in my dorm.
These particular groups are not exactly tolerant of anything remotely
non-Christian. Does anyone have any info on use of henna by
Christians that I might be able to pacify hecklers with if neccesary?
I'm really excited about this but I'm also really nervous. I really
want to do this but I'm worried if I try to give them too much
history they'll get restless and if I don't give them any they will
not have learned anything. Also should i use cones, bottles or both?
Any advice whatsoever would be helpful.
