i once had amazing results from a bright henna powder and thought
that that was the key, but it's clearly not a good indicator of
quality. i just got back home from india, and usha and ekta shah
confirmed that many packaged mehndi powders coming out of india are
only 20-40% actual henna powder and when i was at the street bazaar
the salesman said that the powders used to make henna cones on the
street are of a much higher quality than the prepackaged powders. in
fact, when he showed me a bright green powder and a duller one, he
recommended the duller looking powder and said that the bright one
had been dyed.

i will be trying usha and ekta's mehndi powder soon. they said it is
100% henna and i'm inclined to believe them, but i'll let you all
know how it turns out.
