: : : I have heard a lot of talk about steaming henna on the forum
: I
: : : was wondering if someone could explain the process to me. When
: do
: : : you steam the design? How often and how many times do you
: it?
: : : How long do you steam it for?
: :
: : To get the darkest henna stains, you MUST heat one way or
: wet
: : or dry heat. If you happen to live in a HOT place .... no prob.
: : Henna just loves to be about 40C. If you don't live in the
: : equatorial zones ... steam is very useful. To get the best
: I
: : henna, and let the henna dry, then do a very light NS seal, just
: : insure stability. Then, through the evening, while the henna is
: : place, I heat up the tea kettle until it whistles. I hold my
: in
: : the plume of steam until its as hot as I can stand it. Then I go
: back
: : to studying or whatever, and in half an hour, go do it again. I
: : repeat that about 8 times. This rehydrates and heats the henna
: : maxes out the stain. If you have a garment steamer, you can poof
: : steam at your henna wherever it is. I like to steam regularly
: : than 6 times for max color.
: :
: : I get the best results steaming while the henna paste is on the
: skin.
: : If you steam or heat after the henna is removed, you can still
: it
: : darken before your eyes, but that's not quite as effective.
: :
: : If you're in a wet muggy climate, dry heat may be better than
: steam.
: : You don't want your henna to come off in a landslide!
: :

Well, I've been a lurker on this page for several months now. So I
guess it's time I jumped in and started participating. Usually
someone else asks all of the questions I have, but not this time.
When it comes to steaming does it make an impact on terped henna or
just on 'standard' recipe henna? If it does help terped henna is the
steaming process any different?
