Hi,

Jewel whos mother used this in her henna has made posts about it
before.

I actually found some at an Indian market and tried it.
It is a red color. It is chewed and stains the mouth red. It is mixed
with henna in some parts of the world. I have never heard of or
obsearved from testing that it was any color other then red.
Very few things stain the skin naturally and if they do it usually
doesnt last.
Anything that is mixed with henna that makes it black is either food
grade vegetable type dyes which do not stain for more then a day or
two and are messy. Or they are VERY harmful and illegal for use on
skin.
You can go down to the bottom of this page to the archives select a
month once there do Ctrl f to search for the specific word.

: Catechu is used for making black henna It has tannic acid in
it..Is
