: I need to create an elementary-age art lesson focusing on the Middle
: East. I thought of doing it on Mehndi - maybe using face paint or
: tempera paint instead. This is not actually going to be done on
: children - it is a methods class. Do ya think they would get the
: gist of it (with lots of pics and maybe my own stain on)or does
: anyone have any suggestions?

I'd use crayola kiddie markers unless there was some way to reign in
their enthusiasm.....
What's the age group?

Trace hands and have them draw patterns on their hands and explain to
them about henna for new years, birthdays, Eid, weddings?

I'm always willing to send abundant material, patterns, scholarly
papers, outlines, permission to people who want to teach henna or
rangoli as part of an ethnic diversity curriculumn. (if you email me
from a .edu I know you're cool and you get material free!).
