with the woman who ran the site. Last year when I was in Athens I
kept meaning to go out and see the salon, its in a very trendy part
of athens, kifissia - but didn't. I'm going to greece too in a
couple of weeks, but I'll be back before you. If I have a chance, I
may try to find her place again, I'll post my results.
I would not say the Plaka was "riddled" with black henna artists last
year when I went - I actually only found one who turned out to be a
really sweet Serbian guy who had been doing henna for a couple of
months and had no idea what he was doing. I showed him my portfolio
and talked to him about black henna in fact we ended up going to an
internet cafe and I showed him some black henna info. He decided not
to do henna until he learned more about the real thing. I suspect a
lot of people doing black henna are in a similar boat - there are a
lot of refugees in Greece just trying to make a buck and selling
whatever they can get their hands on. There is a tattoo store in the
Plaka that advertised black henna but they were closed every time i
my best henna experience in Greece was meeting a Moroccan lady who
had not had henna done in years and we got together & traded henna.
Kalo Taxidi! I'd bring info & portfolio with you.
