I also have hennaed my fingernails before and discovered that you
have to grow out the stain, which to me does look kind of odd after
a week or so. I do use nail polish over the top of the henna, and
with dark colors, two to three coats usually works fine to cover
them. Lighter colors sometimes will take four or more coats. My
recommendation if you don't have the time to keep polish on your
nails for several months while you grow out your henna is just not
to do it in the first place...also, having polish on your nails for
several months straight with no reprieve certainly doesn't help keep
your nails healthy.
